I saw this on Reddit (of course), and it bugs me. It’s a horror story, of course, but the word “alone” implies other people, thereby negating the claim that he is the last man on Earth. If he truly was the last man on Earth, then anywhere he went, he would be alone. Unless he had a dog or something. But in the context of people, he would always be alone. So writing “alone” means the author is already attempting to make us think this guy is not alone. You see? Also I’m tired and should take a nap.
